Colorado court clears Trump for 2024 presidential election

A Colorado court has ruled that former US President Donald Trump was involved in the storming of the Capitol, but may still be allowed to participate in the upcoming presidential election, the Associated Press reports. Prior to this, similar decisions were made by authorities in several other states – all of them left Trump on the ballot.

Judge Sarah Wallace concluded that Trump incited the insurrection of his supporters on January 6, 2021, and rejected lawyers’ arguments that the former head of the White House acted within the bounds of free speech. Despite this, she did not find clear language in the legislation requiring the disqualification of a presidential candidate. Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Chung called the decision “another nail in the coffin of the un-American problems” with the ballot.

Earlier, a court in the American state of Michigan considered it possible for Donald Trump to participate in the election for the presidency of the United States. The judiciary did not take into account the role of the former leader of the country in the storming of the Capitol in 2021. A similar lawsuit was filed in Minnesota state court.

It also became known that US residents began to trust Donald Trump more than Joe Biden in matters of foreign policy. 46% of respondents preferred Trump’s policies towards Taiwan and China, 34% of citizens prefer the foreign policy of the current leader.
