After the match with Italy, the Ukrainian national team failed to reach the final part of the 2024 European Football Championship, which will be held in Germany. At the same time, the chances of winning a ticket to the tournament remain through the playoffs of the League of Nations, RIA Novosti reports.
In the final round of the qualifying round, the Ukrainians met with the Italians. The game took place on a neutral field in Leverkusen, Germany, and ended with a score of 0:0. In another Group C match, the England team also played to a draw with representatives of North Macedonia – 1:1.
As a result, Ukraine ended up in third place in the group with 14 points and lost the opportunity to directly qualify for the Euro. At the same time, the Italians, the current European champions, also scored 14 points, but beat Ukraine in additional indicators. First place in the group is taken by the British with a score of 20 points, fourth by the Macedonians with eight points, and fifth by the Maltese who did not score a single point.
Currently, 20 out of 24 teams have qualified for Euro 24. The 21st team will be determined on Tuesday, November 21. Three more spots will be up for grabs in the Nations League playoffs.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian national team players beat the Cuban national team in a friendly match with a score of 8:0. The game took place in Volgograd. The Russian national team ranks 39th in the FIFA rankings. The Cuban national team is in 169th place. Due to FIFA and UEFA sanctions, the Russian national team can only play in friendly matches.
