The Miami Dolphins broke a three-game losing streak with a solid 23-15 win over the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Miami got off to a fast start, marching 70 yards in under three minutes. Rookie running back Malik Washington capped off the drive with an 18-yard touchdown run—the first of his NFL career—putting the Dolphins ahead early.

Later, Tyreek Hill caught his second touchdown pass of the season in the third quarter from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, breaking a personal seven-game scoring drought. Hill’s touchdown extended Miami’s lead to 17-6, and the Dolphins held onto their advantage to end the Rams’ three-game win streak. Miami’s kicker Jason Sanders also added three field goals to bolster the score.

After the game, Tagovailoa praised his team’s resilience: “We’ve endured a tough stretch, with everyone counting us out. Hopefully, this win can be a spark for us as we push toward finding our rhythm for the rest of the season.”

Tagovailoa’s absence earlier in the season, due to a concussion sustained in Week 2 against the Buffalo Bills, had disrupted Miami’s momentum. During his four-game absence, the Dolphins went 1-3. Despite returning two weeks ago, Miami dropped both of Tagovailoa’s starts on last-second field goals before finally securing Monday’s victory.

Now at 3-6, the Dolphins sit in second place in the AFC East, just 1.5 games behind the final wild-card position.

Miami’s defense was crucial to the win, keeping Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and the offense out of the end zone. Stafford threw for 293 yards on 32 of 46 passing attempts, but was sacked four times and threw one interception. Reflecting on the game, Stafford cited costly mistakes: “We had some tough breaks at critical times—turnovers, sacks, and inefficiencies near the 30-yard line hurt us.”

Rams kicker Joshua Karty tried to keep the game close, making three of his five field goals in the fourth quarter. His final 22-yarder in the last minute closed the gap to a one-score game, but Miami’s recovery of the onside kick sealed their win.

Miami defensive lineman Calais Campbell described the victory as a potential turning point. “Sometimes all it takes is one spark. We’ve just got to keep believing and keep pushing forward.”

The Dolphins (3-6) will aim to build on this momentum when they face the Las Vegas Raiders (2-7) next week, while the Rams (4-5) head to New England to take on the Patriots (3-7) on Sunday, November 17.
